Mom Bloggers You Should Know: The Divine Secrets of a Domestic Diva

Name: Susan (Mom, Mommy, Mama, Maaaa!!)

Age (if you are willing to spill it): 32

State: Delaware

Blog Name and Address: Divine Secrets of a Domestic Diva http://www.divinesecretsofadomesticdiva.com/

TMC(The Mommy Chronicles): What made you start blogging seriously instead of just as a hobby?

DD (Divine Secrets of a Domestic Diva): I've always been a "story teller" and enjoy having people's attention. I always excelled in classes where I was able to get up and talk, write, etc. In my professional career I continued this as a Documentation Writer and Corporate Trainer. I used to try to break the ice with my classes, and also get people to relax with me by telling my tales of single life, then married life, and I always had tons of material once I had kids. As long as I could remember people have been telling me to "write this stuff down;" even before the days of blogging. So once I "retired" and decided to stay at home with my kids, I decided to start blogging. It's been a great outlet for me and I feel like it's helping my brain from turning to mush from all the PBS kids and Nick Jr. I watch on a daily basis.

TMC: Between everything going on in your life where do you find the time to blog?

DD: I blog where and when I can. I have my laptop set up in my family room and do a lot of my emails and social networking associated with the blog while the kids watch tv, eat lunch, etc. I write at nap time and at bedtime (if my brain is still functional at the end of the day).

TMC: What do you think sets your blog apart from the rest?

DD: I think that my blog is unique as far as my own (usually disastrous) life experiences and my willingness to share them with the world wide web. I think that many people, women and mothers relate to me because many are going through some of the same things as they age, with their kids, etc.

TMC: Being the successful blogger that you are what are some tips that you can share with the newer members of the mom blogging community on getting traffic and not getting burned out?

DD: For me, social networking has been key. I grew my fan base on Facebook through a fan page I set up. I try to be as interactive as I can through Facebook, Twitter, and always answering emails and comments from the website. I have been developing my theme and style over the last year and am now trying to get in a groove. I also, in order to drive traffic to my website, started doing reviews and giveaways in late spring/early summer. I have a separate page for each on my website and use Facebook and Twitter to promote. I keep my home page to just my "blog." I saw that most other top ranking websites had Giveaways in some form or another, and although I was hesitant at first, I decided it would be a nice way to thank people who followed my site.

Sounds like a fun lady and fantastic Mom. And she's from my home state of Delaware. Small world, small wonder!

Thanks for letting me participate in this, Danielle! It was my first "interview!" so it was real exciting for me! I'm learning as I go here too, and I'm happy to share what I've learned along the way.

Thanks again...and I can't wait to keep reading your stuff (I loved the #1 list you did- and you're right, no one cares about 2-10!)

You'll want to add a facebook button to your blog. I just bookmarked this article, although I had to complete it manually. Simply my $.02 :)

I would like to thnkx for the efforts you have put in writing this blog. I am hoping the same high-grade blog post from you in the upcoming as well. In fact your creative writing abilities has inspired me to get my own blog now. Really the blogging is spreading its wings quickly. Your write up is a good example of it.
