Don't Quote Me on That

Recently I have been going through a lot and I started thinking about all the quotes that people say that drive me crazy and make me want to “throw the baby out with the bath water”. I wonder why people think these quotes are so helpful and why is it that the people always telling me these stupid things are no more enlightened, happier or even any more successful than anyone else. Here are my thoughts on the quotes and lines people keep feeding me.

“Time heals all wounds” - What a load of crap time just gives me even more opportunities to get mad at you all over again. I’m sitting here thinking okay give it some months the people keep saying time heals all wounds well I am looking at my wound and I think it’s infected.

“Life is what you make it”- Really is it really what you make of it because I took your stupid advice and I woke up this morning and made myself a millionaire then drove myself to the ATM and guess what there was not a million dollars in there. So no life in fact is not what you make it. Honestly if this is the case then why are you so miserable all the time did you decide that’s the life you wanted to have is that what you made out of it? Life is more or less how you choose to deal with it.

“There is light at the end of the tunnel”- Yea okay and after you walk into it you realize your dead. Thanks for warning me of my impending death much appreciated.

“It’s not that I’m a bad person I just messed up”- Okay I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt one mess up and you can still be a good person but after you successfully mess up 10 times I am pretty sure you have crossed the line and become a bad person. I absolutely hate when people say this because I am seriously wondering when they think the good person/ bad person cut off is. Am I missing something is there a chart that describes the number of offenses before you become a bad person. This saying is why I don’t watch the news you always have someone’s mother on there saying that her son or daughter is really a good person they just messed up sorry ma’am if your child robbed the store on the corner, killed the clerk and went joy riding in some else’s car they are far from being a good person.

“Money doesn’t matter”- Oh this one really gets my “panties in a knot” I find this to be one of the funniest things I have ever heard in my life. Where in the hell do these people live that money doesn’t matter, how do they clothe their children, pay their bills, wash their butts, feed themselves. Is there a magical land where you don’t have to pay for the basic necessities of life because seriously people I want directions. I’ll gas up my SUV on some love and head to the happy place where money doesn’t matter. Can anyone tell me why the same people that say this are the ones that are broke and are wearing designer clothes? If money truly didn’t matter to you then neither would the labels you are so quick to buy because I am pretty sure they cost money.

Does anyone else have a quote or something that someone has said to them that makes them cringe?

All of these really make me wonder too - it's amazing that they make people feel better.

But there is often a light the end of the tunnel. All dark times offer a light. Like Winston Churchill said, "When you're going through Hell, keep going."

There's another saying you can hate!

I don't think that I really hate them I just get tired of hearing them all the time. I feel like sometimes I want some true advice not the stock quote that everyone uses.

I feel the same way you do. I do not like the constant quote spouting I get when I ask people for advice. If I wanted quotes, I'd look them up online. :)
